Farquhar Street, Penang in downtown
George Town, Penang. It is one of the earliest high-rise hotels in George Town, having been constructed in the early 1970's, when it was known as the Merlin. It has one of the most commanding locations in the city, with views of the inner city of George Town.
The hotel sits on the site of another hotel known as International Hotel, which was built in the late 1800s. By the 1910s, it was used as an annex for the Eastern & Oriental Hotel. Later on, other hotels occupied the site, among them the Strand Hotel, the Elysee Hotel and, after World War II, the Piccadilly.

Bayview Hotel Georgetown was and still is the only hotel in town with a revolving restaurant. Located in the heart of George Town, Bayview Hotel is near to famous sights such as the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Penang Museum and other historic sights.

Getting there
Bayview Hotel Georgetown is located on Farquhar Street. The Free George Town Shuttle Bus pass by Farquhar Street near the hotel. You can take it from Weld Quay Ferry & Bus Terminal, and alight at Bus Stop 6 (Muzium Stop), a short distance from the hotel.
