Jakar is a small town in Bhutan. Located at a height of 2,800 meters above sea level, it is the main town in the Bumthang district in central eastern Bhutan, about 11 hours from Thimphu, the capital. This town of just 5,000 people is the center of Vajrayana Buddhism, as reflected in its many monasteries and sites.
Climate of Jakar
The best time to visit Jakar is between May and end of September, after which it gets too cold, with temperatures falling to -6°C in winter.
How to get there
There are buses from Thimphu. It takes 11 hours to reach Jakar. In Jakar itself, you can hire a taxi to take you around.

Chakhar Lhakhang A small, unassuming monastery marking the location of the former palace of Sindhu Raja, the Indian monarch who invited Guru Rimpoche to Bhutan.

Kurje Lhakhang One of the most sacred monasteries in Bhutan.
