Bridge Street Hokkien Mee (GPS: 5.32829, 100.28427) or "Kio3 Thau2 Hokkien Mee", is a coffee shop selling Hokkien Mee in Sia Boey, Penang. The name "Kio3Thau2" means "at the head of the bridge", in reference to its location next to Anson Bridge, on the north side of the Prangin Canal, at the start of Bridge Street (now known as Jalan CY Choy). In addition to Hokkien Mee, the stall also sells Lor Mee.
Having heard of the Bridge Street Hokkien Mee, I gave it a try on 15 December 2012. The surroundings do not appear very hygenic - I can see an elderly lady preparing the prawns beside the Prangin Canal. Apart from that, the stall itself is not dirty. The opens daily except for Monday, and operates from 7:00 am in the morning to 2:30 pm in the evening. Apparently the stall has appeared on the CNN Travel webpage, so that's the recommendation from a foreign tastebud. In my opinion, if you are willing to overlook the surrounding hygiene, you will find that the taste is not bad, though a bit too salty.

The Bridge Street Hokkien Mee opened a branch in Bayan Baru from 1 February, 2013. However, if I am not mistaken, that branch has closed down.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
