Tasik Merimbun is the biggest lake in
Brunei. Located 27 km from Tutong, the lake is surrounded by the Merimbun Heritage Park, a 7800 hectare park that was gazetted as an Asean Heritage Park.
Tasik Merimbun has a dark colour. This is due the dye from natural tannin that comes from the leaves falling into the water. The lake supports a rich variety of fauna including birds, mammals and reptiles. Visitors can hire a boat (for B$30 per hour) to take them around to explore the lake and its two islands.
