A USM bungalow on Bukit Jenaton (13 May 2012)
Bukit Jenaton is a hillock in
Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). It is the highest point in the
Batu Uban district. The hill was named after
Dato Jenaton, the Minangkabau settler who founded Batu Uban in 1742. It is said that from the top of Bukit Jenaton, he has an uninterrupted view of his domain, a one-hundred acre tract of land given to him by the ruler of Kedah, Sultan Muhammad Jiwa, whose territory included Penang Island.
Some of the buildings in USM today are located on Bukit Jenaton, among them the museum, the library and the guest house (Rumah Tetamu).
