Bukit Mertajam Market (GPS: 5.36336, 100.46011 on Jalan Bunga Raya), or Pasar Awam Bukit Mertajam, is a wet market in the heart of Bukit Mertajam town. It is located along Jalan Pasar, facing the junction of Danby Street. The market occupies a two-storey building, were the ground floor is occupied by the wet market while the upper floor by dry-goods stores.

The Bukit Mertajam Market is especially busy in the morning when market activities is in full swing. This results in much of Jalan Pasar being congested. The façade of the market facing Jalan Pasar is now boarded up, so much of the market activities is on the side facing Jalan Bunga Raya, where there is more space for market stalls.

Getting there

The nearest bus stop is along Jalan Muthu Palaniappan, some 10-15 minutes walk away. It is served by Rapid Penang bus 701, 702, 709 and 802.
