CaLéFé Hauz Gastro Café (pronounced like this: ) is a fine dining restaurant in Penang. Calefe Hauz is located along Prangin Road Ghaut in George Town. Occupying one of the shophouses at Prangin Terrace, CaLeFe opened to business at the end of April, 2014.
Calefe offers a wide selection of Western and local dishes. They include pasta and burger. You can start your meal with a soup or a salad - they include roasted tomato soup and wild mushroom soup, and for the salads, there is Caesar salad and CaLeFe's salad. Entrees or main course may include the pan fried red tilapia, beer-battered fish & chips, grilled boneless children and lamb shoulder.
Exploring the restaurant, I see that the owner has decorated it with all sorts of antique and curio items. There is an old typewriter, photos from maybe half a century ago, and to my amusement, at the order window is a wall with enamel mugs or "kolé" hanging from them.
If you are coming from the direction of Weld Quay, CaLeFe Hauz is the first shophouse on Prangin Terrace. If you follow the direction of traffic, coming from Prangin Road (Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong), then it's the last one on your left.

About this website
Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.
While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
