Kampong Cham is the capital city of Kampong Cham Province in eastern Cambodia. Located on the Mekong River, it has a population of some 64,000 people (2012 estimate).

Most Westerners who find their way to Kampong Cham is a backpacker. There is limited tourist infrastructure for mainstream tourists. Having said that, the people in Kampong Cham - as in all of Cambodia - seems very friendly and engaging with outsiders.
