Koh Kong is the capital of Koh Kong Province on the coast in the western part of Cambodia. It is lcoated near the mouth of the Kah Bpow River which empties into the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Kong is just about 10 km from the border with Thailand. It has a population of around 30,000 people (2012 estimate).
The town of Koh Kong is located to the south of the Cardamom Mountains. The Kah Bpow river flows from the Cardamoms and right through the town. Due to the rural nature of the town, it is a center for an illicit trade in wildlife. Many restaurants here also serve exotic meats.
Visiting Koh Kong
There are minibuses and tourist air-conditioned buses between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville with Koh Kong. They usually leave in the morning, arriving in Koh Kong in the afternoon.
It is also possible to reach Koh Kong from Thailand, from the border crossing of Cham Yeam, which is 10 km to the northeast of town.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
