Poipet is a town in Cambodia, on the Cambodian side of the Cambodia-Thai border. It is adjacent to the Thai town of Aranya Pratet, and has a populaiton of around 90,000 people (2012 estimate).
Being where it is, Poipet wears a decidedly frontier feel. It is a gambling destination with casinos and hotels catering to Thais. The casinos are located in a special zone which allows Thais to gamble but off limits to Cambodians.
Being a border town, Poipet is just a stopover for most visitors on their way to other cities in Cambodia. It is lacking is tourist attractions apart from gambling.

Visiting Poipet
There are buses from all the major towns and cities in Thailand to Aranya Prathet, it being the busiest land crossing with Cambodia. From Bangkok, you can take a bus from the Northern Bus Station in Mo Chit.
Arriving in Aranya Prathet, you can cross the border into Poipet from 7:00 am in the morning until 8:00 pm at night.
Let me take you to explore and discover Penang through my series of walking tours on YouTube. You may use these videos as your virtual tour guide. At the beginning of each video, I provide the starting point coordinates which you may key into your GPS, Google Maps or Waze, to be navigated to where I start the walk, and use the video as your virtual tour guide.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
