Our Cha Om Omelette (5 November 2016)
Cha Om, written in Thai as
ชะอม, and pronounced

, is a popular vegetable in
Thailand,
Myanmar and
Manipur in
India. Its English name is
Climbing wattle. A member of the acacia family, and hence, it is often also called Acacia Leaves, the scientific name for Cha Om is
Senegalia pennata. Cha Om tastes great when added to omelettes, to make
Cha Om Omelette, or in Thai, Khai Chio Cha Om (ไข่เจียวชะอม

)
We come across Cha Om at the
Bayan Baru Market today, so my wife decided to buy a bundle, and we are making Cha Om Omelette at home for the first time. The aroma of the Cha Om and the fried eggs is simply fantastic.
