Cheating Husband is a steel-rod sculpture installed on the wall of a shophouse facing
Love Lane, near the junction with Chulia Street, in
George Town, Penang. The sculpture by cartoonist
Tang Mun Kian shows a man on the face of the wall holding a rope. He appears to be escaping from a raid, probably one staged by his wife. The sculpture is installed on a wall across the road from the
Broken Heart Mural by Ernest Zacharevic.
Cheating Husband Sculpture, Love Lane, George Town, Penang (30 June 2012)

The "Cheating Husband" sculpture provides a humourous though not exactly accurate rendition for the name of Love Lane, which is widely believed to be were rich Chinese merchants kept their mistresses. Nearby
Muntri Street was the choice address of the 19th century
nouveaux riches; it was their practise to house their second wife at Love Lane. The first wife probably had little say in this, at a time when upper-crust women have not yet been emancipated from their cloistered existence.
