Cherry Sweet Thai Restaurant (in its original location) (27 August 2013)
Cherry Sweet is a Thai restaurant located along Clove Hall Road in George Town, Penang. The restaurant is housed in a ku3kha3lau2, a traditional raised bungalow. It is entered via the front stairs, which leads up a dozen or so steps to the main door.
Cherry Sweet has been operating for over ten years, but it has also been years since I last visited it, so much so that I was not sure whether it was still operating. So on 27 August, 2013, my wife and I decided to give it another try.
To be honest, we found that the quality has deteriorated. The Tab Tim Grob dessert ("red rubies") was a disappointment, as we don't taste any actual water chestnuts. This is perhaps reflected in the number of vacant tables. During our visit, ours was the only other table occupied. I suppose, there would be nights where the restaurant received no patrons at all, which is quite disheartening, as we remember it when it was always packed with diners.

We realise that business can go on a downward spiral, and this was what we saw at Cherry Sweet. If you continue to suffer poor business at a stretch, you would naturally be unable to stock up on the freshest items. That, in itself, causes any remaining business to depart. I just hope by some miracle this restaurant can witness a turnaround, because I do miss its glorious days when its Thai food was among the best in town. Do patronize this restaurant anyway, and share with me your experiences at my Facebook Group.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
