Chin Farm Waterfall (GPS: 5.46016, 100.242) is a lovely waterfall in Batu Ferringhi, Penang. Also known as Batu Ferringhi Waterfall, because the river is Sungai Batu Ferringhi, the waterfall cascades down the rocks into a stream. It attracts locals who come here for picnics.
The path leading to the waterfall is located right across the road from Bayview Beach Resort. You will see a yellow signboard for "Chin Water Fall Lam Thean Mui Temple", a Chinese temple up there. You can park your vehicle at the space beside the main road, or drive right in to the base of the waterfall.
The distance by car is just about 5 minutes. Just before you reach the waterfall, you will see the farm house of Chin Farm on your right. The path then veers to the left and crosses a bridge over the stream, with the waterfall further upstream.
Park your car in the area near the base, and start your short hike to Chin Farm Waterfall. You will pass a Datuk Kong shrine at the base. There are cement steps to help you climb up the large boulders. Once you reach the waterfall itself, the steps stop, and you have to climb the rest of the way over the rocks. Be careful as these are very slippery when wet.
The water coming down Chin Farm Waterfall is clear spring water. We see that it is extracted by the farm below for their own use. We came on a hot day, so there isn't much water at the falls. During the rainy season, the water often cascade over the rocks which are presently barren, except for places where the water has carved out streams on the rocks.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
