Visiting Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples, Chengde
Chengde is located 250 km (150 miles) to the northeast of Beijing. You can reach it by plane, train and bus from Beijing. From Chengde, you can take the public bus 118 to visit the temples on the northern side and bus 119 to the southern side. The fare is a flat ¥1. There is no attendant and no change given, so prepare the right amount.
Another alternative is to take the taxi. The taxis do not carry a meter, so negotiate in advance. A trip to visit the temples should cost you around ¥15.
