Arriving at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

Contact Pier E1 is the only pier for international flights. All the other contact piers (E2, E3, W1, W2 and W3) are for domestic flights. Arrivals are on the first and second floors, with the actual Arrival Hall being on the first floor. Upon stepping off the plane, you clear Health Declaration, followed by Immigration. Then you go to Baggage Claim and finally Customs Inspection. Now you are ready to exit the airport. Your transportation options include the subway, airport express bus and taxi.

Subway: Metro Line 3 goes to the airport. This is my choice form of transport in terms of price, punctuality and comfort. There are ticket vending machines at the Airport South Metro Station, located at the basement level of the terminal. Major subway interchanges that Line 3 passes through are the Guangzhou East Railway Station and the Tiyu Xilu Subway Station, the fare to both of these is RMB 12. The first train leaves at 6:00 am while the last at 11:00 pm. Journey to Guangzhou East Railway Station takes roughly 50 minutes while to Tiyu Xilu a bit longer.

Airport Express Bus. There are a few routes. Use this service only if the route happens to pass near your hotel. Due to traffic condition, it's hard to say how long the journey will take, at least as long as the subway or longer. Fare ranges from RMB 10 to RMB 55 depending on where you are going.

Taxi: Taxis are available from outside the Arrival Hall, near Section A Gate 5. and Section B Gate 6 of the terminal building. The fair to downtown Guangzhou is around RMB130 inclusive toll of RMB15.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
