Mid-levels 半山區 is an upscale residential area in
Hong Kong. It derives its name from its location mid way between
Central and
Victoria Peak. The neighbourhood is bound by Caine Road, Bonham Road, Upper Albert Road and Kennedy Road to the north, Conduit Road to the south, Hong Kong University to the west and Wan Chai to the east.
Mid-levels become a choice of the rich and famous of Hong Kong due to its unsurpassed views of Victoria Harbour. Its proximity to Central and Admiralty are other advantages. The Mid-levels neighbourhood is also said to have better air quality compared to other places in Hong Kong Island, making it desirable for those who can afford to live there. Apartments in Mid-levels costs a few million Hong Kong dollars, with the top ones having been sold for as much as two hundred million Hong Kong dollars.
How to go to Mid-levels
The nearest MTR stations are the Sheung Wan MTR Station (Island Line, Tseung Kwan O Line) and Central MTR Station (Island Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, Tsuen Wan Line). From there, it may be easier to go on foot. The Central-Mid-levels Escalator allows you to go up the steep slope in the Central and Mid-levels area without tedious climbing.
