Cotai Strip is an area in Macau presently being developed as a major casino and entertainment zone. The strip is located in Cotai, a reclaimed land lying between the islands of Coloane and Taipa, for which it was named. The 2.2 km road linking Taipa and Coloane, Estrada do Istmo, previously a land-fill bridge, is now a land road. Cotai Strip is developed by Las Vegas Sands, which owns Venetian Macao. Other developers include Melco-PBL and Galaxy Entertainment. The first casino to open in the Cotai area is the Grand Waldo Hotel which belong to Galaxy Entertainment.

Located in Cotai is the Macau EAG Dome, built for the East Asian Games in 2005, it is the biggest sports facility in Macau. It covers an area of 45,000 sq meters, and was officially opened 5 July 2005. Also located in Cotai is the MUST Hospital, which is associated with the Macau University of Science and Technology. Opened in 2006, it is one of the three hospitals in Macau.

About this website

Dear visitor, thank you so much for reading this page. My name is Timothy Tye and my hobby is to find out about places, write about them and share the information with you on this website. I have been writing this site since 5 January 2003. Originally (from 2003 until 2009, the site was called AsiaExplorers. I changed the name to Penang Travel Tips in 2009, even though I describe more than just Penang but everywhere I go (I often need to tell people that "Penang Travel Tips" is not just information about Penang, but information written in Penang), especially places in Malaysia and Singapore, and in all the years since 2003, I have described over 20,000 places.

While I try my best to provide you information as accurate as I can get it to be, I do apologize for any errors and for outdated information which I am unaware. Nevertheless, I hope that what I have described here will be useful to you.
