Macau International Airport (MFM), or Aeroporto Internacional de Macau in Portuguese, is the main international gateway into the former Portuguese colony of Macau, now a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

Macau International Airport opened in November 1995, while Macau was still under Portuguese rule. The airport's runway was built on a strip of reclaimed land in the sea, adjacent to Taipa Island where the passenger terminal and air traffic control facilities are located. Causeways connect the runway to the parking apron.

Macau International Airport is designed to handle 6,000,000 passengers a year, and up to 2,000 passengers per hour. The airport does not close at night, and can operate around the clock. Despite its small size, Macau International Airport is able to handle Boeing 747s, which is used for cargo services between local manufacturers and the overseas market.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
