Entrance to Morrison Memorial Chapel and the Old Protestant Cemetery (9 November 2007)
The Morrison Memorial Chapel or Capela em Memória de Morrison, also known as Protestant Chapel, is a small chapel next to the Protestant Cemetery. It was named in honor of Robert Morrison (1782-1834), the person who produced the first Chinese-English Dictionary. Morrison was also also the first to translate the Bible into Chinese.
Within Morrison Memorial Chapel is a stained glass window. It shows the picture of an open Bible with the Chinese characters for "In the beginning was the Word". On either side of the stained glass window are plaques. The one on the left commemorates Henry Davies Margesson who drowned off Yokohama on his voyage home from China to England. The one on the right commemorates James B. Endicott, an American trader, and Henry Davies Margesson who
The Morrison Memorial Chapel is still a functioning chapel with services every Sunday at 9:00am. It is one of the sites within the Historic Centre of Macau as inscribed by Unesco as a World Heritage Site.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
