The Shanghai Exhibition Center at 1000 Yan'an Zhong Lu is a huge, grim, Soviet-style structure in Shanghai. Erected in 1954, it was known as the Palace of Sino-Soviet Friendship.
The Shanghai Exhibition Center was intended to be a showcase of China's technological and agricultural successes during the Bamboo Curtain era after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
The entrance to the Shanghai Exhibition Center is decorated with red stars and a gilded spire. Today the Shanghai Exhibition Center has found new life as a shopping mall selling furniture.
