SJKC Chung Shan (GPS: 5.2979, 100.27003; Traditional Chinese: 中山華小; Simplified Chinese: 中山华小), also called Chung Shan Primary School, is a Chinese primary school in Bayan Lepas, Penang. Located in Sungai Tiram, it served for many decades as the main primary school in the Bayan Lepas area, receiving pupils not only from Bayan Lepas, but also Permatang Damar Laut, Teluk Kumbar, Sungai Ara and even Batu Maung.
Chung Shan Chinese School is the oldest Chinese school in Bayan Lepas. The school was established in 1951 on land donated by the late philantropist Yeap Chor Ee. The building, erected in the late Art Deco style, and finished in Shanghai plaster, was founded by the late philantropist Aw Boon Haw.
Updates on Chung Shan Chinese School
14 March 2024 The Starreports that SJK (C) Chung Shan will soon be relocated to a new site at Jalan Bukit Ayun in Bayan Lepas. The 3.5-acre site was granted by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yewo following meeting between the school board and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad, together with representatives from the Transport Ministry. As of present time, the school has 450 pupils from Year One to Six, and 37 teachers and support staff.
2 February, 2013: Chung Shan Chinese School is planned to be relocated to another site along Jalan Tun Dr Awang, as its present site is too close to the Penang International Airport, particularly since the airport engineering warehouse was going to be constructed immediately behind the present school yard.
To facilitate the relocation of Chung Shan Chinese School, the Penang state government undertook a land swap with a developer, enabling the new school building to be built on a new site in Sungai Ara. At time of writing (Feb 2013), it is not yet fixed when construction of the new school building will commence.

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
