City Stadium (GPS: 5.41181, 100.31542) or
Stadium Bandaraya, is a stadium in
George Town, Penang. It is bordered by
Jalan Dato Kramat and
Jalan Perak. the oldest stadium still in use in Malaysia. Built by the British in 1932, it is the oldest stadium in Malaysia that is still in use. Today the stadium is used for official functions. Over the years, it became a popular venue for football matches.
The City Stadium has an athletic track and a capacity of 20,000 spectators. The City Stadium was recently renovated and given a facelift. Due to congestion within George Town, the stadium could not be further expanded from its present size. Bigger events have to be held at the
Penang State Stadium in Batu Kawan while indoor events at the
Penang International Sports Arena.
Getting there
The City Stadium is located at
Lorong Kulit, right next to the Lorong Kulit Flea Market and the
Rapid Penang Bus Depot. The nearest bus stop is along Dato Kramat Road. It receives
