Copthorne Orchid Hotel (GPS: 5.466712, 100.292108) is a now defunct hotel in Tanjung Bungah, Penang. It is one of a row of beach hotels in Tanjung Bungah, all with great views of the sea. Copthorne Orchid was designed to follow the contours of the terrain, which slopes gently towards the beach. The lobby of the hotel is on Level 8 of the hotel. Above the lobby is the Tower Block, which is from levels 8 to 19. Beyond the Terrace Bay Restaurant and pool, the hotel terrace cascades town to beach, forming levels 1 to 7. Function rooms available for seminars and conferences are on the 9th floor.

It's a beach hotel that is also not too far from the city. Across the road is the neighbourhood called Hillside, where there are quite a number of good restaurants. The scenery of the sea at Copthorne Orchid is gorgeous. You can see the tiny isle of Pulau Tikus off the coast.
