Nasi Kandar Dinner at Deen Maju

Deen Maju Nasi KandarQueuing to order at Deen Maju (15 April 2016)

After hearing about the Deen Maju Nasi Kandar, we went there for the first time on 15 April, 2016. The nasi kandar operates from the compound of a typical pre-war townhouse, a Chinese house in fact. We arrived quite early, around 6:25 pm, but saw that there was already a long queue. It took just about 10 minutes to place our order. With the stall occupying much of the space in the compound, there was only room for a few more tables there, so additional tables are placed in the alleyway by the side, and also within the reception hall of the house itself.

Taking our plates, we found a small table for the two of us inside the house. It was indeed a different feel to eat nasi kandar in the reception hall of a prewar Chinese townhouse. I could see the Chinese characters on the front door.

I had beef, fish, boiled egg and ladies fingers while my wife ordered chicken, egg and ladies fingers. With two iced lemonade, our bill came to RM19.95.

Here's how our nasi kandar look like:

How do I describe my meal on my first visit to Deen Maju? I like it. The nasi kandar tastes good to me. I do find that the ladies fingers are a big on the tough side. My wife said the gravy was very sweet. The nasi kandar does not impress her as much. She prefers the nasi kandar at the Penang Road Line Clear, which we have taken twice recently.
