Enoshima is a Japanese restaurant in Cititel Express Penang. The restaurant opened to business on 2 April, 2015, along with the hotel itself. It is done with a pinewood finishing, as with many Japanese restaurants, but has some whimsical deco that includes bicycles and surfboards hanging from the ceiling. The lamps, made of shells, are quite pretty.

Enoshima Japanese Restaurant is owned by the same management of Kirishima, the Japanese restaurant at Cititel Penang. It is not operated by the hotel itself. However, guests of Cititel Express also take their breakfast at Enoshima.

My wife and I paid a visit to Enoshima on 14 May, 2015. We were one of the first people to enter the restaurant that evening, and were taken to a taken with views of the outside. I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki Sushi set (RM42) while my wife ordered the Enoshima Makunouchi Bento (RM38).

The Salmon Teriyaki Sushi set has various sushi on a platter, along with a large piece of salmon, chawan mushi and miso soup. The Enoshima Makunouchi Bento has a selection of tempura, maki, sashimi, chawan mushi, salmon and miso soup.

On the whole, we find that this is one of the better Japanese restaurants in town, though we both agree that the salmon that they gave us was a bit dry. It would be perfect if it were a little juicier. Other than that, I have very little to complain about the food, and I look forward to visiting Enoshima again in the future.

Getting there

If you enter Cititel Express from Noordin Street, Enoshima Japanese Restaurant is on your left. It is the first outlet on the shopping arcade that links Cititel Express with St Giles Wembley.
