Plitvice Lakes National Park is a national park in Croatia. It is located in the Plitvice Lakes municipality, in the mountainous region of Like.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is a region of flowing waters over limestone, karstic rock and chalk which over the millennia, have deposted travertine barriers. The travertine barriers are the result of accumulated moss, algae and bacteria. These create natural dams and ponds, resulting in many beautiful lakes in the region, punctuated by caves and overflowing with cascades and waterfalls.
