Agen is a commune in the department Lot-et-Garonne, in the region Aquitaine, in southern France. It covers 11.5 sq km (4.4 sq mi) and has a population of 34,000 people (2012 estimate).
The history of Agen goes back to the 12th century. It was mentioned for the first time in 1197. The name comes from the Latin Aginnum meaning "rock" or "height".
How to go to Agen
The nearest major city from Agen is Toulouse.From there, take the A62 (E72) motorway heading north till Exit 7, where you turn off for Agen.
