Kaysersberg is a small French village in Haut-Rhin, in the Alsace region in northeastern France. This charming village is very near the border with Germany, which explains its German name that means "emperor's mount". The village has lovely half-timbered houses that have been well preserved and are now enjoyed by a stream of visitors.

Kaysersberg is located to the northwest of another charming French town, Colmar. It sits on the slopes of the Vosges mountains. The most famous person to have been born here is Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965). His home is now restored and turned into a museum.

Kaysersberg covers 24.82 sq km (9.58 sq mi) and has a population of just around 2,800 people (2011 estimate). The city is in the Central European Time Zone (UTC+1) and in summer the Central European Summer Time Zone (UTC+2).

Visiting Kaysersberg

To reach Kaysersberg, it's easiest to first arrive in Colmar and then continue in a northwest direction on D415, a country road that provides you wonderful sceneries of vineyards. Alternatively, you can take the E25 (A35) expressway until Exit 23. Then head west on D4 (Rue de Colmar) and then D1B (it's once again on your left and right), until you get to Kaysersberg.
