Languedoc-Roussillon borders Midi-Pyrénées to the west, Auvergne to the north, Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur to the northeast. It also faces the Mediterranean Sea to the east.
Languedoc-Roussillon comprises five departments namely Aude, Gard, Hérault, Lozère and Pyrénées-Orientales. The regional capital is Montpellier.
