Languedoc-Roussillon is the region of France on the southern coast of the country. It is 27,376 sq km (10,569.9 sq mi) in area ana has a population of 2.6 million people (2011 estimate).

Languedoc-Roussillon borders Midi-Pyrénées to the west, Auvergne to the north, Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur to the northeast. It also faces the Mediterranean Sea to the east.

Languedoc-Roussillon comprises five departments namely Aude, Gard, Hérault, Lozère and Pyrénées-Orientales. The regional capital is Montpellier.

You can take the TGV high-speed trains from Paris to Montpellier in 3 hours and 15 minutes.
