Gare Montparnasse is one of the six main railway stations in Paris. It is located in the Montparnasse area, in the XIVe arrondissement. The railway station is served by suburban and regional train services, particularly those covering southwestern France, places such as Tours, Bordeaux, Rennes and Nantes.
Since it opened in 1840, Gare Montparnasse has grown many times its original size, now handling some 50 million passengers every year. It is the terminus of several train services including the TGV Atlantique, the Intercités services, the TER Basse-Normandie 2, the TER Haute-Normandie, the TER Pays de la Loire 23 and the Transilien.
