Pays de la Loire is a region of France located on the western coast of metropolitan France. It covers 38,082 sq km (12,386.9 sq mi) and has a population of 3.6 million people (2011 estimate). The region observes the Central European Time (UTC+1/+2). Its capital and biggest city is Nantes.
Pays de la Loire was created from parts of Britanny (just 20%, the remainer in in the region of Brittany), Anjou, Maine, Poitou, Perche and a small part of Touraine. The region is composed of five departments namely Loire-Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne, Sarthe and Vendée.

Visiting Pays de la Loire
Your gateway to Pays de la Loire is the city of Nantes, which can be reached by train from Paris. The TGV high speed train takes just over 2 hours to make the journey. You can also fly to Nantes. The Nantes-Atlantique Airport gets regular flights from Paris, Lyon and other cities in France.
