Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is a region in southeastern France. It is bordered by Rhône-Alpes to the north and Languedoc-Rousillon to the west. To the east is the international border with Italy, to the south the Mediterranean Sea and to the southeast the Ligurian Sea.

Often written simply as PACA or referred to simply as Provence, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur covers 31,400 sq km (12,123.6 sq mi) and has a population of close to five million people. Its main city is Marseille. Other major cities include Nice, Toulon and Aix-en-Provence. It observes the Central European Time, which is an hour ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC+1) and two hours ahead during Daylight Saving Time in summer.
Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur is the third most important region in France. It enjoyed a GDP of €130,178 million in 2006, and a per capita GDP of €27,095. The region comprises six departments namely Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Vaucluse.

Visiting Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
You can fly to the Marseille-Provence International Airport (MRS), which receives flights from major cities in Europe. From the airport, you can take a bus, a train or taxi to downtown Marseille, in 30 minutes.
High-speed TGV trains connect Paris with Marseille in 3 hours. There are also trains from Brussels in 5 hours. Lyon is an hour away while Nice is two hours away.
