Quiberon is a small town in the district of Morbihan, in southern Brittany, France. Situated on the southern tip of the Quiberon peninsula, it covers 8.8 sq km (3.1 sq mi) and has a population of around 5,000 people (2012 estimate). Today it is a seaside resort visited mostly by domestic tourists.
The history of Quiberon can be traced to at least the 18th century. It was the site of the Battle of Quiberon Bay between the French and the British in 1759. It was here that the technique to sterilize food was developed, enabling Quiberon to become a leading harbour for sardines.
Quiberon was occuped by the Germans during the Second World War. They tortued 59 resistance fighters here and buried them alive. A memorial stands here in their memory.

How to go to Quiberon
You can take a train from Paris to Auray; in summer there are train services from Auray to Quiberon. If coming by car, take the N24 expressway heading southwest from Rennes to Ploërmel, then continue on the N166 expressway to Vannes. There, continue west on the N165 expressway to Auray, then take Route D768 heading southwest to reach Quiberon.
Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
