Bad Bevensen is a small town in the district of Uelzen in Lower Saxony. Located to the east of the Lüneburg Heath, it covers 48.01 sq km (18.54 sq mi) and has a population of 8,600 people (2012 estimate).
Bad Bevensen, as its name suggests, is a spa town. It receives mostly domestic visitors who come for its wellness programs. The town is the seat of a collective municipality that includes surrounding villages such as Gollern, Groß Hesebeck, Jastorf, Klein Bünstorf, Klein Hesebeck, Medingen, Röbbel, Sesendorf and Seedorf. About 3 km to the south of Bad Bevensen is the prehistoric site of Jastorf, an Iron Age cemetery of the Jastorf culture.
Visiting Bad Bevensen
Take Autobahn 39 to Lüneburg, then continue south on Route 4. Watch out for sign to Bad Bevensen.
