Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler is a town in the district of Ahrweiler in
Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It covers 63.38 sq km (24.47 sq mi) and has a population of around 27,000 people (2012 estimate).
Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler got its name because it is an amalgamation of two towns, Bad Neuenahr and Ahrweiler. This merger came into effect in 1969. The "Bad" in its name indicates that Bad Neuenahr is a spa resort. This is due to the presence of mineral water that was discovered as early as 1584. The mineral water company Apollinaris is based here since 1852.
