Baden-Württemberg is one of the states of the Federal Republic of Germany. It is located on the southwestern part of the country. Baden-Württemberg is bordered by Bavaria to the east, Hesse to the north, Rhineland Palatinate to the northwest, France to the west and Switzerland to the south.
Baden-Württemberg covers an area of 35,751 sq km (13,803 sq mi) and has a population of 10.8 million people (2011 estimate). Its capital is the city of Stuttgart.

Going to Baden-Württemberg
By Plane
The main international airport for Baden-Württemberg is Stuttgart Airport (STR), located 13 km (8.1 mi) to the south of Stuttgart. It is the 7th most important airport in Germany, and receives flights from major airlines. For even more choices, fly to Frankfurt and connect by train from there.
By Train
The ICE high-speed train gets you from Frankfurt Railway Station to Stuttgart Railway Station within an hour. You can also take the ICE to other cities in Baden-Württemberg including Freiburg, Heidelberg, Karlsruhe, Mannheim and Ulm.
Apart from driving, the train is the most practical option for exploring Baden-Württemberg. The state has an excellent rail network serving even the more remote areas.
