The
Berlin Modernism Housing Estates are a World Heritage Site in the capital of Germany. They comprise six housing estates that were developed between 1910 and 1933, and stand today as examples of the innovative housing policies of the Weimar Republic, a time when the city of Berlin was particularly progressive.
The property that is the Berlin Modernism Housing Estates is an outstanding example of the building reform movement which result in improvement to housing and living conditions of people in the low income group. The estates also feature fresh design solutions as well as aesthetic and technical innovations in urban planning. The Berlin Modernism Housing Estates have considerable influence on the development of housing all over the world.
Berlin Modernism Housing Estates was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 32nd session of the World Heritage Committee which met in Quebec City, Canada, on 2 - 10 July, 2008.
