Fulda is a city on the River Fulda in Hesse, Germany. It covers 104.04 sq km (40.17 sq mi) and has a population of 64,000 people (2012 estimate).
The history of Fulda goes back to AD 744 when Saint Sturm established a Benedictine monastery there. The city today is celebrated for its numerous Baroque-style buildings, the majority of which were erected in the 18th century. Among the buildings in Fulda which were remodelled in the Baroque style includes its cathedral and the Castle-Palace.
How to go to Fulda
From Frankfurt, take Autobahn 66 heading northeast until it joins Autobahn 7 for a short distance before reaching Fulda. You can also take direct trains from Frankfurt as well as Berlin, Hamburg and Munich.
