Greifswald is a town in the state of
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, in northeastern Germany. It covers 50.5 sq km (19.5 sq mi) and has a population of 55,000 people (2012 estimate).
Greifswald sits on the southern end of the Bay of Greifswald. The River Ryck flows through the town. The town is on a relatively flat terrain averaging less than 20 m above sea level.

How to go to Greifswald
Greifswald is about equidistant from Berlin (240 km/150 mi) and Hamburg (260 km/160 mi). You can go there by train from Berlin. If going by road, take the Autobahn 20 (E251) to the L26 highway, then continue heading east to reach Greifswald.
