Herborn is a historic town in the district of Lahn-Dill-Kreis, in the administrative region of Gießen, in Hesse, Germany. Located 287 m (942 ft) above sea level, it covers 63.82 sq km (24.64 sq mi) and has a population of 20,000 people (2012 estimate).
Herborn is renowned for its many beautiful timber-framed houses. It is one of the towns on the German Timber-Frame Scenic Route (Deutsche Fachwerkstraße). Its history goes back to 1048.
In 1602, the Herborn Academy, a Reformed institution was founded. This led to the translation of the Bible by the Reformed Church in 1602. The work has had a decisive impact on the Reformed movement all over Europe as well as in the United States.
How to go to Herborn
Herborn is located to the northwest of Frankfurt am Main. From Frankfurt, head north on Autobahn 5 until interchange with Autobahn 45. Continue northwest on Autobahn 45 till you arrive in Herborn.
