Landshut is the regional capital of Lower Bavaria, in Bavaria, Germany. It is a city of around 60,000 people (2011 estimate) on the banks of the River Isar, in south-central Bavaria. It covers 65.7 sq km (25.4 sq mi) on an average elevation of 445 m (1,460 ft). The city is within the Central European Time Zone, which is UTC+1 and in summer UTC+2.

Landshut is located in the center of Lower Bavaria, about 72 km to the northeast of Munich. The city was founded in 1204 by Duke Louis I. It became the capital of Lower Bavaria in 1255. The city benefited from the proximity of the Munich International Airport, enabling businesses and tourist attractions within the city to receive a ready stream of traffic.

Landshut is connected to Munich by Autobahn 92. The Munich International Airport is also located on the same expressway.
