Neumünster is one of the major towns in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It has independent town status, meaning it is not part of a district or county. Neumünster covers 72 sq km (28 sq mi) and has a population of 77,000 people (2012 estimate).
Neumünster was originally called Wippendorf, a village whose history can be traced to 1127. It is located on the river Schwale, close to the geographical center of the state. The town is about 65 km (40 mi) to the north of Hamburg.

How to go to Neumünster
From Hamburg, head north on Autobahn 7 until interchange with Highway 430, then head east on Highway 430 to enter Neumünster.
