Neustadt an der Weinstraße is a town in
Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It covers 117 sq km (45 sq km) and has a population of 53,000 people (2012 estimate).
Formerly called Neustadt an der Haardt, the town was renamed meaning "new town on the wine route" to denote its location on the German wine route. Due to the length, it is often abbreviated to Neustadt a.d. Weinstr. or Neustadt/Weinstrasse.
The history of Neustadt an der Weinstraße goes back to AD 774, when the villages of Winzingen, Lachen and Speyerdorf were first mentioned. It was called Neue Stadt in the early 13th century. It came under French rule from 1797 to 1815 and then Bavarian rule from 1816 to 1945, when it became part of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

Neustadt an der Weinstraße has a well-preserved old town with many timber-framed houses. The city has one of the warmest climates in Germany, with daytime temperature regularly exceeding 30°C.

Ludwigshafen, take Autobahn 65 heading southwest till you arrive at Neustadt an der Weinstraße.
