Riesa is a town in the district of Meißen, in the administrative region of Dresden, in Saxony, Germany. It covers 59 sq km (23 sq mi) and has a population of 34,000 people (2012 estimate).

The history of Riesa can be traced back to the 13th century, when the St Marien minster was built. Another famous church is the Trinitatis Church.

How to go to Riesa

Riesa is located to the northwest of Dresden. From Dresden, you can take Highway 6 heading northwest. At Seerhausen, continue northeast on Riesaer Straße to reach the town.
