Rudolstadt is a small town in the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in the state of Thuringia, Germany. Located in the wooded valley of the river Saale, Rudolstadt covers 55 sq km (21 sq mi) and has a population of 24,000 people (2012 estimate).
Rudolstadt is famous for the Volkstedt porcelain factory which was founded here in 1760. Every first weekend of July it holds probably the biggest music festival in Germany, the Tanz & FolkFest Rudolstadt.

How to go to Rudolstadt
From Erfurt, take Autobahn 4 heading east until interchange with Highway 85. Continue south on Highway 85 to reach Rudolstadt.
