Wolfsburg is a city in the state of Lower Saxony in Germany. It covers 204 sq km (79 sq mi) and has a population of 121,000 people (2012 estimate), making it the sixth largest city in the state. Wolfsburg is best known as being the world headquarters of automotive giant Volkswagen AG.

Wolfsburg is one of the few German cities to be founded in the 20th century. It was established by the Nazis as a planned town on 1 July 1938, for the purpose of producing the Volkswagen. The Nazis originally called the city Stadt des KdF-Wagens bei Fallersleben. It was named Wolfsburg after the defeat of the Nazis, when the British occupying forces renamed it after Wolfsburg Castle which was built there in 1302.

The whole history of Wolfsburg is connected with Volkswagen. Even after the Second World War, Wolfsburg continued to manufacture the vehicle. The 1 millionth Volkswagen Beetle rolled off the assembly line in 1955.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
