Corfu (Greek: Κέρκυρα) is the second largest of the Ionian Islands, Greece. It covers 613.6 sq km (237 sq mi) and has a population of 110,000 people (2012 estimate).
Today Corfu is a major tourist destination in Greece. This began in the early 20th century, when European royals began visiting it. They were followed by wealthy families, and today, the island is catering to mass tourism.
