The Old Town of Corfu on the island of the same name, is a World Heritage Site. A Greek island off the western coast of Albania, Corfu is strategically placed at the entrance to the Adriatic Sea. As such, it was used by Venice as a defensive outpost to defend its maritime trading interest against the Ottomans. There are three forts in Corfu designed by the Venetians.

The Old Town of Corfu has old houses of neoclassical style from the Venetian period. Many of these were built much later, in the 19th century. The forts are still standing. They were repaired when Corfu was under British rule during the 19th century.

Old Town of Corfu was inscribed as a World Heritage Site during the 31st session of the World Heritage Committee meeting in Christchurch, New Zealand, on 23 June - 2 July, 2007.
