Andalo is a town in the province of Trentino in northern
Italy. It covers 9.81 sq km (3.79 sq mi) and has a population of about one thousand people (2012 estimate).
The town of Andalo was established in the Middle Ages. It was formed through the merger of thirteen existing hamlets namely Bortolon, Cadin, Casanova, Clamer, Dos, Fovo, Ghezzi, Melchiori, Monech, Pegorar, Perli, Pont and Toscana.
An obscure mountain village, Andalo became popular only after the mid 20th century, when it developed into a popular skiing destination. Before that, the town relied also entirely on agriculture. Since then, tourism has taken over as the mainstay of the economy.
